The Lab 50 is a high-performance 18500 mech mod based on our robust uni-tube design. Picking up where the Roller and Dingo left off, the Lab is a sturdier, simpler and easier-to-use top-side-firing mech mod. With its refined, sturdy switch and absolute minimum number of body parts to fiddle with, the Lab is a high-efficiency device with performance and safety features unseen in current top-firing designs.
The simplicity, ease-of-use and performance of the Lab comes with a style that departs from the strict minimalism of the Roller and Dingo. The Lab has a slightly more aggressive form which is still minimal and ergonomic, in line with its unique character.
The Lab sets a new standard in mech mod performance and safety, since it has been designed to include advanced safety features with a minimal or zero impact on dimensions or performance. Every Lab can be configured in 3 different bottom-cap-to-battery contact modes with different safety / performance characteristics (Springless-Fused, Springless-Direct and Spring-Loaded). All devices come with the Springless-Fused contact pre-installed, and include all parts necessary for re-configuration in Springless-Direct mode.
**Important**: All Lab versions retailed after October 1st 2016, do not offer a spring out-of-the-box. It is strongly suggested that the devices are used in fused or direct mode, for performance and safety reasons.
For micro-adjustments of battery space, as in fitting abnormally long batteries, or when using long Kick modules with 18500 batteries, it is recommended that you use a conductive spacer or a spring found in our parts section.
Spare PTC protection modules, silver / rhodium-plated springs (for Spring-Loaded Mode only) and other accessories and add-ons may be selected here or purchased separately.

All critical components of the new switch are heavily reinforced and 100% liquid-sealed. New switch versions have one twist-locking position (twisting a quarter-circle anti-clockwise) instead of two (older version) due to machining procedure refinements.
– Robust, lightweight 304 food-grade stainless-steel construction with a minimum number of parts for a low-loss, super-efficient operation, unseen in existing top-firing designs.
– Configurable to use a Spring-Loaded, Springless-Fused, or Springless-Direct negative battery connection, for a high-performance or safety-oriented operation.
– Dependable short-circuit protection (Springless-Fused mode) based on a super-low-voltage-drop, resettable PTC element, suitable for resistances down to 0.5 Ohm.
– Hybrid-style, future-proof top connection with open airflow.
– Fits 18650 batteries by mounting a T16 extension
Safety / Performance Configuration Modes
The Lab sets a new standard in mech mod performance and safety, since it has been designed to include advanced safety features with a minimal or zero impact on the overall dimensions or performance of the device. Although IMR batteries are proven to be very safe, every short-circuit results in minor battery damage which affects the discharge characteristics of batteries and their ability to hold a charge. A single, prolonged short-circuit is often enough to cause permanent battery failure.
Out of the box, every Lab can be configured in 3 different bottom-cap-to-battery contact modes with different safety vs. performance characteristics.
Springless-Fused Mode
In Springless-Fused mode, a high-performance protection module is assembled into the bottom cap of the device to protect your batteries and the mod itself from damage caused due to short-circuits. The fuse used in the Lab is resettable (does not “burn”), does not affect the dimensions of the device and has a negligible impact on performance when using resistances down to ~0.5 Ohm.
Overall, the performance of the Lab in the Springless-Fused mode is consistently higher than the performance of most high-end mech devices without any kind of protection built-in.
Springless-Direct Mode
A Springless-Direct cap contact is also included with every Lab, which can be used to remove all protection features from the device. When using the Springless-Direct contact, the voltage drop on the mod will be negligible, resulting in performance unseen in existing top-firing designs.
Spring-Loaded Mode
The Spring-Loaded mode is a compromise between performance and safety. Spring performance is on average higher than the performance of the fuse when using well-maintained and plated or high-conductivity springs. However, it is not as consistent, since springs tend to lose their flex with use.
The spring-loaded configuration is very useful for fitting abnormally long batteries, or when using long Kick modules with 18500 batteries, since it provides around 1.0mm of additional battery space.

Surface Finishing Options
– The BR-M and BR-EM versions are machined from soft brass, a sensitive, “active” material that quickly develops patina on all external surfaces. They are limited-edition, “collectors-only” items, recommended only for skilled vapers with extensive experience in brass maintenance. All Brass batches are small and also are prepared randomly. – The SS-IM finish is a dynamic finish. It is not always the same and it gets darker over time. There is no need to worry though, as parts that appear to be different, will eventually look almost identical.
All finishes need cautious handling, but especially sand blasted finishes (SS-IM and BR-EM) are more sensitive to scratches and surface aging.

Getting Started
The Lab is a 100% rebuildable, high performance mechanical mod of moderate complexity. It is suitable for experienced vapers who possess a good understanding of the nature of mechanical mods and electric power transfer, but it is also simple and easy enough to be used by intermediate vapers who have the desire to learn the ins-and-outs of their vaping gear in order to get the most out of it.
Mech mods are sophisticated, enthusiast-oriented vaping tools. By nature, a mechanical mod requires:
– Proper handling.
– Frequent maintenance.
Proper handling guidelines are specific to each device. Thanks to its uni-tube design, the Lab is a mod that is very easy to use without requiring constant attention. Battery / Kick Compatibility
Due to its cap design, the Lab 65 can accept 18650 batteries without any redundant adjustment parts, such as screws or pogo pins, which result in reduced performance and require frequent maintenance.

Important: The LA-T16 extension limits the battery diameter to 18.40mm max, which means that some (usually low-quality) batteries with thick insulation may not be able to pass through it.
If you are planning to use an Evolv Kick with the Lab, you should be aware that the Evolv Kick 1 / 2 modules are produced with a loose length tolerance: Units with a max length of 17.80mm (2.80mm oversized) may also be found. This means that with certain 18350 battery / Kick combinations, the Kick might not allow the bottom cap of the Lab to close completely, or it may not fit inside the Lab at all. In most cases, the Kick length issue can be remedied by configuring the device in Spring-Loaded Mode. Using the LA-T16 extension in combination with a 18490 battery is another possible workaround.
Use only original, high-drain, low-internal-resistance 18500 batteries such as the AW 18500 IMR.

This is a beautiful and perfectly designed mod. In 18650 mode it is about the same length as a Smok-e Mountain Vanilla 18650 bottom firing mod ie the lab is very compact!
The PTC fuse works perfectly and does not restrict battery choice – excellent feature and most reassuring.
I have tried it with a Kick 2. Works with no difficulty with18500 batteries (using the extension tube), but a bit of a squeeze in short mode, even using authentic 18350 AW IMR batteries, as I had to use the spring setup to get the battery cap flush with the body. I was a little concerned about getting a Kick out of the Lab once installed, but it is very easy – shake the mod and the Kick slides towards the bottom of the tube and can then be removed. No problem!
However, I have decided not to use the kick: the ability to have an 18650 battery in such a compact top firing mod, coupled with a Kayfun lite and the fused setup, means that I have possibly found the ‘sweet spot’. Very happy 🙂

Just received my (LA-0057) SS-M Lab a few hours ago, and I have to say this thing is a work of art. With the t16 extension for an 18650 its barely taller than my caravela bottom fire, simply amazing for a side fire mod. You get alot of bang for your buck here, it fits any battery with ease and no rattle. The flat rails on each side make it extremely easy to hold, and its uni-tube design makes everything look like a hybrid on it. The only downside I could find was the serial number on the bottom cap is at a very slight angle, and the button takes a small bit of effort to grip and turn, a knurled button in the future would be amazing. The new efest 35a 2500mah 18650’s do fit with the extension very snug.

This is my first experience with atmizoo,I have to say it has been a great one.The lab is a work of art and hits like a freight train.I purchased the 18650 extension but my efest imr batts do not fit.Not a big deal I have a couple of 30a sony batts on the way.Bottom line is the lab is worth every cent and atmizoo did a great job of shipping it to the US quickly.I will be back.

Now that I own 3 Labs(1Brass,2 SS-M) I think I am ready to give short review.
All my 3 Labs are top quality and machined perfectly:threads are smooth and everything else was flawless, too. I already liked the Lab on atmizoo’s pitures, but in reality it looks amazing! I really love the hybrid topcap that let you favorite atties sit so flush on the Lab that you might think it was a hybrid! I own a lot of Atties an was able to let everyone of it sit flush on the Lab. The finish of the SS-M version matches the Kayfun lite plus perfectly.
The button is operating flawless and I had no misfire so far. Maintenance has gotten easier with the Lab button compared to Dingos/Rollers, too. To see how easy that is just check atmizoo’s videos in the support section.
The bottom cap is designed very cleverly as it needs no spring and there is no need adjusting contacts. You just turn in the bottom cap till it touches the battery and you will never have rattling/wobbling batteries.
Voltdrop on the Lab is really not an issue on the Lab,it hits like a train. I did not notice any difference between using it with fuse or with direct contact, even with 0.5 Ohm setups.
Overall it is one of the best mods, if not the best that money can buy.
Customer service at atmizoo is awesome, they were alsways answering my questions very quickly.
