If there’s one thing to say about the recently released Lab, it would be something along these lines:
It’s never too late for a change of opinion.
With its unique design, incredible performance and safety features, the Lab quickly became a big success while breaking 3 of the most hard-rooted stereotypes in the world of mech vaping:
1. All mech mods look and function the same.
Actually, they don’t. Thankfully, a few mech devices defy the “pinky-activated tube” cliché, proving that there is still room for design innovation. The Lab is one of them.
2. Top-firing = better ergonomics, Bottom-firing = better performance.
Well… think again.
3. Mechanical devices are unsafe. Safety circuitry and “fuses” take up space, hurt performance and are very expensive to replace.
How about a safety mechanism that:
- interrupts hard short-circuits in milliseconds,
- resets itself in a couple seconds,
- does not get damaged,
- can be used up to 8A (~35W) while consuming less than 1.5W of that power,
- has zero impact on the overall dimensions of the device,
- can be removed/bypassed easily to maximize power output and efficiency if necessary and
- costs less than a cup of coffee to replace?
And the best part — it’s included with the Lab.
With all this in mind, it’s no wonder that the only criticism of the Lab so far has been the 18500 battery limitation, a design decision which was based on the fact that high-quality 18500 IMR batteries strike the best balance of size vs performance. So far, we had no plans to produce 18350 and 18650 variants of the Lab, until recently. But it’s never too late far a wise change of opinion.
Today, we are introducing 2 new Lab versions for 18350 and 18650 batteries — “Lab 35” and “Lab 65”. The current 18500 Lab will be called — as expected — “Lab 50”. All 3 versions will share the same internal components and will be compatible with the existing 16mm “T16” extension tube, a handy addition for using larger batteries when necessary.
But there’s more good news: From now on, all versions of the Lab will also be available in our special “Naval Brass” alloy, in 2 different finishes: brushed Matte (BN-M) and blasted Earth-Matte (BN-EM). The “Soft Brass” option (BR-M and BR-EM) will remain available only for Lab 50, in very limited quantities.
“Naval Brass” is a strong brass alloy which is very resistant to heavy oxidation. It develops a dark brown patina quite fast, which is much more subtle compared to the heavy, green patina of the “Soft Brass” type, which is a much more “alive” alloy.

Will you be offering the tube as an individual item? I have the older lab with the extension and i really badly would like the 18650 tube, but i cant afford to purchase a full new mod.

thank you very much for choosing the Lab and for your returning interest! Here is how it goes with the Lab:
1. Retailing the Lab Housing as a standalone item is not part of the Unitube concept 🙁 The housing is more than just a replacement/extension tube: one of the four basic parts of the device. Trying to use the device in a different mode would mean disassembling and re-assembling the switch/button set, removing the connector and bottom cap, long story short stripping off the whole mod to parts. Not really versatile as a choice.
2. Even if it were available, the costs would be too high for just a part.
This is why we have chosen to have the Lab Housing available only for special occasions (e.g. replacement for accidents).

I think offering different sizes is a great idea. Let the customer decide! Any chance you will be offering 18500 and 18650 Dingo’s as well?
