You already know of our three classic electroplated finishes for the DotShell and SteamShell.
Midnight Black, Iron Grey and Gold have quickly become very popular and are still fullfiling the basic needs of users for a spicier touch in the heart of their AIOs. What about those wanting some real color though? We have been asked a lot to work out something with colors on our RBAs, but which colors should we pick out?
The Inspiration
The answer came in a rather philosophical way. Color is said to be the essence of life and nature, but if you look around, you rarely see life and nature to be reproducing sole, flat colors. On each object, thing, being, texture, you can usually see color gradients, palettes and spectra. Mixture of colors, shades and effects of light, always create dynamic impressions out there. The sea, the sky, the rainbow, the flowers are some examples. Even flat colors created by human are forced to develop a dynamic character with the effect of time, light etc. This perception has been our inspiration for what we needed: We had to find a way to reproduce nature’s effect if we were to proceed with our new colors project. And here is what we ended up with.
The Color Palettes
The proud result of our endevour is three new color palettes. Three dynamic new finishes, each one being a unique camvas of different color shades and colors mixture, changing with the effect of light and the view angle, never exactly the same between different devices of same finish. Please welcome Aegean Blue, Rainbow Purple and Marigold Orange.
Aegean Blue is the color palette of the Aegean Sea, a small tribute to Greece, our country. Dominant are the shades of Blue from the sky and sea, but if you look closely you will also see tints of yellow from the sun, and even some random tones of orange / purple from the sunset.
Rainbow Purple is a reference to the purple tones of the rainbow. Various purple shades, with rich tones of orange (from light yellowish to dark brownish).
Marigold Orange is inspired by Marigold flower colors. It presents a combination of orange and gold-yellow tones, even including some purple and deep red shades.
The Procedure
The electroplating procedure for the new finishes follows the same basic principles of the classic electroplating procedure. The difference here, is that, in a simplified approach, consecutive electroplating processes of two or more flat colors are followed on the same racked parts one “bath” after the other, in order to produce the result of the new finishes. This, together with special handling of the applied heat during the process, is what results to the dynamic gradient and multicolor effects of each finish. The multiple treating steps and the games with temperature bring along a result which differs from part to part. Also, other factors like the parts volume / size and their exact position on the rack frame, also play their role to differentiate the result. For example smaller parts are heated quicker and more uniformly than larger parts on same rack / bath, which brings along more intense multicolor effects. The tangible results are that the devices of same finish are destined to be different from one another, even from the same batch. Also, that the outer looks on SteamShell devices will be a bit more dynamic and multicolor than the DotShells, because the SteamShells outer surface is defined from more parts, also smaller, compared to the DotShell case. Exactly this is the fun of the new finishes, as this is what essentially makes each device unique.
The Release
The new palettes will be first introduced to public with limited pre-release drops via our facebook group over the next couple of days.
Following the pre-release, they will be making their official debut on Monday 20th November 2023, on atmizoo.com/shop and our resellers network worldwide.
As usual, there will be no fixed time release, instead we will be working in the lab and keep preparing devices. Please keep an eye on our site as stock will be replenished regularly.
